We love Harry Potter weddings! Remember this one? Or this one? Or maybe it's just the perfect Save the Dates for your Harry Potter-themed wedding? Ooh! Or do you remember these incredible Daily Prophet wedding programs? Yeah, we're kind of huge Harry Potter wedding nerds.
That's why when Tribesmaid MrsGraves13 mentioned she was planning a Harry Potter-themed dessert bar I just had to share some of her great ideas on how to stock it.
If you're planning a Harry Potter-themed wedding, or party, check out these magical candy selections…

Check out our entire tag full of Harry Potter weddings things. And then come back and let's talk about what YOU would include in your Harry Potter candy bar?
This is a great idea! My FH and I are firmly against a “theme” wedding, but having a Harry Potter/Nintendo dessert bar would be the perfect way to integrate our favorite things from our youth.
i did a crazy, over the top harry potter birthday party for myself a couple of years ago. feel free to steal ideas if you like: http://spiritussancto.blogspot.ca/2011/11/harry-potter-food.html http://spiritussancto.blogspot.ca/2011/10/harry-potter-props-and-decorations.html i think my best ideas were the mix-your-own potions table full of booze and the spanikopita “parchment” rolls. sorry, not trying to whore my blog, just didn’t want to write a novel here. i promise i’m not a pro and i make no money
I may or may not steal some of these ideas for my man’s 40th birthday. Which is on July 31. Yes, I have the coolest man in the world 🙂
Rock cakes can be made from scratch too, and are fairly easy. They’re a traditional tea item; a bit like a scone but the dough is dropped in spoonfuls onto the baking sheet, hence the rock-like appearance.
I love this idea. Last week or so I had thought of doing this for my wedding! I also found some sites for making chocolate frog boxes and Bertie Botts Every Flavor Bean boxes http://www.chicaandjo.com/2011/07/08/harry-potter-chocolate-frogs/ and http://harrypotterparaphernalia.blogspot.com/2012/01/bertie-botts-every-flavour-beans-box.html . The chocolate frog box even comes with a template to make personalized famous witch and wizard cards. These aren’t my blogs just something I found whilst searching the web.
I saw the link for this on Offbeat Home and Life’s Facebook, which reads “Create this Harry Potter candy bar.”
I thought it meant “candy bar” as in like “Snickers bar but Harry Potter-theme flavored” and damn near sprained my wrist trying to click it fast enough.
*ahem* Reading comprehension. I has it.
And this is VERY awesome too, don’t get me wrong! I’d lose my shit if I found out that the wedding I was attending had a Harry Potter themed anything! Maybe I need cooler friends…
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to daydream about how a DIY Harry Potter candy bar might taste…
It would taste either amazing or really weird, depending on where we went within the theme.
Unfortunately, there are some concerns about the officially licensed Harry Potter chocolates that you mention in this post: http://thehpalliance.org/action/campaigns/nihn
(The Harry Potter Alliance sells fair trade chocolate frogs, but they only sell them at certain times of year when it is cool enough to ship them, so they are not available now.)
I once made pumpkin pasties and butter beer to consume while watching A Very Potter Musical with friends. It was pretty much an amazing day.
Remember that Bertie Botts beans are a little hard to get right now, at least for me, something I found out the hard way when I had a valentine/harry potter party this year. They didn’t sell any in any local stores. I even looked in a larger town an hour away, but I had order some from amazon. However, jelly belly does put out other strange flavor beans in their product beanboozed, which I enjoy cause you can’t cheat and look at the back of the package for the flavors.
No one wanted licorice wands, but when I got licorice smoking pipes from world market, they were a hit. I guess people were willing to try a disliked flavor in a different shape.
I also tried to incorporate “weird” candy not listed in Harry Potter canon, like Zotz (they fizz in your mouth when you suck on them) or turtles redone as cockroach clusters.
Oh, the cockroach cluster idea is awesome!
We did Jelly Belly’s for our “Bertie Bott’s” beans at our wedding. It was hard to find a large amount of Bertie ones and it would’ve got expensive. Plus who doesn’t like walking out of the candy store with 10 pounds of jelly beans? I felt so boss that day.
